Well the season is finally over.  It been fun and it's been long.  I want to thank everyone that joined us this year and I hope to see you all back next year.

I still need the all-star uniforms back, so I will be calling you to get them.

I have not heard from the park about trophy for Jr. & Sr.  They seem to be avoiding the issue.

If you want to coach or volunteer for next years season, see John G'sell or any of the league's board members.

With-in the next couple of weeks, I will be posting a note on how to plan a successful season of Little League.  It will be a list of thing I did and things I should have done.  I hope it will help other leagues as well as our own.

To the group of girls playing in the Indianapolis/Scarborough Peace Games, we all wish you good luck and thank you representing Indianapolis and Christian Park.

Have a good rest of the summer!
Coach David
The final game in our all-star tournament was faboluos.  Chrisitian Park vs Community/Lawrence team.  We may have lost, but we played with style.

We started with 3 up and 3 down as the first two inning we by very quickly and both teams staying in check with each other.   After three innings we begain to fall behind, so we switched up Peyton and Amanda with Dena on the mount and Brittany at home.  I figure this would give them both a break and we could bring them back later.  However, this new combination rocked.  You'd think they had played together all season.  Dena stop two line drives to the chest and Brittany catching a player no touching home plate as well as making an import out at home to stop the run.

Mariah play first and Clohea, Jessica and Belinda backed her up in RF.  Our other Jessica, Kaila and Stephaine all cover second and CF through out the game.  Tina played 3rd making every effort to get the running and did a excellent job.

Fourth inning and we made it through fairly well.  However they had the lead.  In the 5th inning we played like magic.  Dena smacked down a tripple bring enough runners in to take us with in one run.  Our team had another great inning in the field holding them.  Seventh inning score is 6 to 5 Community's lead.  CP up to bat.  One out, then Tina took the plate and made it to first.  Steals second and then thrid.  Waiting on three for the hit, she takes off and slides into home tieing the game up.  Then we got our thrid out.  Game tied 6.  All we have to do is hold them.

Our girls did there best, but we let a few get by and Community made one more run in to win the game.

Big lost last night for the all star team, a combination of a very very bad call from the umpire on a clearly done, double play didn't help either. Of course the rain drenched us and in the end we just quit playing as a team.

Brittany Norris was one of the highlights of the game, fielding center and pitching, she was one of the few to stayed in the game mentally the whole time. Belinda made an excellent steal home, when the IC catcher wandered off. I'm still trying to figure out where she went, second base I think?!? Jessica Duns made a great play at second, tagging the runner and then threw to first. Getting both runners out. Unfortunately the ump called them both safe. How frustrating to say the least. After that why bother, we simple quit playing.

Time to move on. One more chance. Practice on Wednesday at 6:00 at CP. Next game on Thursday (7/15/04) at 6:00 at I.C.

Well our first All Star game is tonight. It looks like it will be CP, IC, and Community.

Last year, I only had around 6 girls that could play all stars, not enough. We couldn't combine teams because the correct paperwork was not filled out. This year how ever, we did have enough to field a Jr team. I still feel bad, that we couldn't help Lowell and Community out, however so good did come from last year. I found out that Lawrence had signed up the interleague forms with Community, so they were able to pull enough players to make up a team for the tournament.

Other news, Southport has pulled out of the tournament and Carnine does not have a Jr. team. So, it will be the 3 of us.

First game is CP vs IC at 6:00 tonight. Parents and players be ready for a busy week as there is no set schedule for the next game - winner/loser brackets.

See you all tonight!

Well the All-star team is getting ready to go into 3-day training period - Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The last two practices have been wasted because both fields were taken. I should have just made all practices at Brookside. It's nice to get away from all the "park" people so the girls can focus on the game. There are way to many distractions at CP.

I guess I'm going to have to step up and be a jerk, scream at them or something. This team just does not seem to have any focus. I should have kept the team small 10 or 11 players, instead of 13.

I think in the future I'm going to blow off all-stars. The girls that take the game seriously loose interest, because there are two few of them. The rest just show up because of mom & dad, or because there's nothing else to do. I know their kids and don't care that it takes time out of my life and my family's life, nor do they know or care that it cost about $100.00 to be in this tournament. It's not about winning the tournament so much, as I would like to seem them put some effort into. Why should I waste my time, if they're planning on losing or worse just don't care.

Next year, if I do this, there will be an A/B team - girls that want to play to win and the rest. I'm still mad we drafted players this year. Instead of ending up with a dominant team and a training team, we ended up with two training teams. Both teams trained differently and now we have to spend a week retraining them to play the correct way, my way. Of course, the girls see it as being told they're wrong and "we did it this way all season".

Anyway, just trying to find that magical thing to turn them and myself around. I haven't had much luck this year. I miss the fun of last season.
