Christian Park Softball
Friday night was another fabulous evening for softball. Our Rangers took on the second Indiana Central team. With Big Dan umpping the field, our girls took first bat.
The game like others clicked back and forth. Two for us, two for them. Four for us, Four for them.
Our batting line up started out with Mariah, Ashley, Dena and then Melissa. These four experienced players started us off well. Next, we had Brittany, Belinda, Amanda M. and Amanda C. They may not hit it out of the park, but they can consistently move the bases and help our runners in. Finally, Courtney whom I think has had a exciting year so far, was up and so was TT, who can smack the ball down 3rd.
Our line up is great as long as they run when they hit the ball. About the middle of the game, they forgot to run. This cost us an important inning and kept us from scoring.
However, after a refresher from both coaches, we edged ahead to 9 in the 7th inning.
Going into that inning the score was 9 to 5. We just had to hold them. After a few errors, they managed to score two runs. Just like a classic movie setup, it was bottom of the seventh, runners on the bases, three balls, and two strikes. A beautiful pitch from Melissa when sailing across the plate and with a loud smack the batter hit a line drive towards the short stop. Quickly, getting in from of the ball and with a loud POP it was solidly planted in Mariah's glove. Third out, game over, Rangers win!
Way to hold them ladies.
